Frequently Asked Questions at Fabric Yard

Wow what a minefield buying fabric can be! You're not alone if you have a question though, chances are someone has been there before and so we have put together some of our most frequently asked questions to help you. If your question isn't here please don't hesistate to contact us via email or telephone (07977 238871)

What are the pricing units? The price displayed is per metre OR per unit (eg panel / items). As standard the quantity basket usually has 0.5 in the basket if this is the minimum quantity but the price displayed is per metre. If you add 0.5 to your basket you will receive a half metre piece. If you have 1 in your basket you will receive a one metre piece. If you add 1.5 to your basket you will receive a 1.5m piece and so on.
How soon do you dispatch? We aim to dispatch same day on orders placed before noon. If you are in a rush for your fabric and you place your order after noon just give us a call to check if your order can still make dispatch and we will do our best to accomodate you
Do you do samples? Yes you can order a sample here. It is a generic product, just send us a message to let us know which fabric it is you'd like a sample of!
Do you do quantity discounts? We work on a UK £1 flat postage rate and so build in our discount that way for larger orders. If you would like a full bolt (usually 13.7 / 18m lengths) please contact us as we can do a small discount on bolts to order.
Can I return my fabric? As long as fabric is not cut and is in same condition we like to be able to bring it back into stock, unless this has been specially ordered for you.
Can your fabrics be used for curtains and upholstery? The majority of our fabrics are quilting weight. These aren't ideal for curtains and upholstery as they are lighter weight (similar to a good quality duvet) but if you have fallen in love with the pattern it is possible with lining. The smaller the window the more you will get away with the weight. Remember quilting weight cottons are usually only 110cm wide so you are likely to need more widths and can sometime have large pattern repeats. Speak to whoever is making your curtains or upholstery for specific advice. We have a home decor section and the fabric in this section is heavier and usually a wider width (but not all) than quilting cottons so is good to use for curtains
Will my order be cut as one continuous length? Yes - if you place an order for 2m it will arrive as one piece. In the very rare occasion we can't do this we will be in contact before we ship.
Do I need a paypal account?
No you don't need a paypal account to pay for your basket online. Select paypal but when you get to the login screen simply select the 'Pay by Debit or Credit card' option below the sign-in and you will be able to enter your card details without having to create a paypal account.
Can you take payment over the phone?
I'm afraid we can't take payment over the phone. If you don't want to pay online using your card, you can choose the cheque option at checkout and once you've checked out you can post us a cheque. Your goods will be held for 7 days. It does no harm to send us an email to say you have sent your cheque.
Is it possible to collect orders? Yes that is no problem. As we are based in Northern Ireland we have only enabled collection option for BT postcodes so as to avoid confusion.
Do you ship internationally? Yes we ship all over your world. You should get a price for shipping at the checkout stage once you input your address. If there is any problem with your shipping cost you will see a message asking to contact the office.
If I order more than one panel will they come cut separately or as one continuous piece? Panels will be cut as a continuous piece as standard where possible. So if you order 3 60cm panels of the same fabric you will receive them as one 1.8m piece.
